dotPhoto talking points
Ease of Use

dotPhoto knows that ease of use is the critical to the acceptance of our service. We sit down with ordinary users and watch them interact with dotPhoto, and design functionality that makes sense.
Primary Functionality:  Share, Profit, Preserve

We have found everyone wants to do the same things with photos, whether they are consumers or business people.  These things include easy image uploading, secure long-term storage, printing in customary sizes, arranging photos into presentations, selling images, and sharing through e-mail links. Making it easy to get digital snap shots is the most important part of our business but the ease and convenience of creating custom photo gifts, cards and calendars is another clear benefit that digital photographers love.
Value

Online purchasing is more convenient, and dotPhoto’s pricing is on par with traditional film processing costs.  dotPhoto’s digital photo print process crushes costs of home inkjet printing without sacrificing any quality from traditional drugstore prints.
Quality Guaranteed

The modern definition of quality is "meeting the customer's expectations." dotPhoto guarantees the quality of our prints, and we continue to invest in software and equipment that increases the resolution of our prints and the convenience of our service.

Photos Everywhere

Photos on the web are available on personal digital assistants (PDAs) and cell phones. We believe the 150 million cell phones in the United States will be more important to digital photography than PDAs.  dotPhoto’s Pictavision® is the leading photo sharing software for cell phones;  Pictavision is available in BREW and Java versions.
Multimedia

Photos are the first step in dotPhoto’s multimedia platform.  dotPhoto is the only online service to make it easy to add voice to photos, which can then be arranged to deliver a presentation. People often ask us about video, and we think that video will have its place, but probably as an "extended photo." Watching video requires time; photos convey important moments quickly.  Generally, we believe that people “take” video, but they “look at” photos.
Color Cell Phones and Wireless Digital Cameras

Digital cameras are now built into cell phones. Sending photos directly to dotPhoto overcomes the main problem with online photography: the difficulty of uploading photos. Camera phones also overcome the main reason consumers report they do not take more pictures: "I didn't have a camera with me."  In 2003, digital cameras outsold film cameras, and camera phones outsold digital cameras.
Film is dead.

dotPhoto develops and scans some rolls of film, but it is not an important part of our business. Consumers have crossed over to digital photography faster than anyone can imagine. dotPhoto has developed a solid infrastructure to meet the increased printing demand from consumers with digital cameras that continue to get more powerful and less expensive every year.
This is the only beginning.

Digital photography has hardly even begun. The industry has only scratched the surface of technological capability and consumer awareness. dotPhoto continues to push the technological envelope with innovative solutions to make digital photography the most convenient way for consumers to preserve, share, and add value to their pictures.
